Pilates Tiff on Morning Routines, Movement, Mum Life & More!

This week on the blog we are chatting with local pilates instructor Tiffany Sinclair about all things movement, life balance and routine. If you are feeling the mid year slump then keep reading for a boost of pos vibes and motivation from the glowing Tiff!

Hey Tiff, it's great to have you here on the blog. Can you start by telling us who you are, what you do and a fun fact about yourself!?
Hi hii! Thanks for having me.  I am Tiffany, a born and bred Gold Coaster (there's not many of us around haha), a Pilates Instructor, a Mumma and fun fact I started dance classes at 16 and got my first professional dance gig at 19 on MSC cruise ships sailing around the Mediterranean.

What does your typical morning look like Tiff?
Ooh I love a morning routine - I try my best to get up early (5.30ish) and get a workout in (pilates obvi) before my little gremlin (2 yr old princess) wakes up. Then we usually will walk the dog, have breaky, do daycare drop off and then back home to teach Reformer Pilates from my backyard studio. It's a big morning of movement and I love it!

Can you bust a common pilates myth for us?
The breath does matter! It's the first Pilates principal, yet not many people cue it or focus on it, but it will transform your practice and your body.
Above all, learn how to breathe correctly” - Joseph Pilates

Obviously movement is a part of your everyday life. Can you offer some tips on how you stay motivated to be active and healthy?
It's always been about how it makes me feel, and that motivates me to have the discipline to be consistent. Finding how you like to move your body is the best place to start, because we're all different, so try new things until you find THE thing that makes you feel great, and then figure out how to be consistent. I'm in my workout from home era, so I put my workout clothes on my dresser the night before, I have a beautiful cane basket with my mat, headphones and Pilates equipment in, and I set 2 alarms 5 mins apart to help me get my a** out of bed!

When you aren't teaching pilates or in mum mode what is your fav thing to do!?
Definitely dinner with the girls! I love fashion and I love getting the opportunity to dress up (out of lycra) and hang out with my friends.

Your classes look like a lot of fun and you have such a great community of women! Do you think the community aspect plays a role in people maintaining an active lifestyle on a consistent basis?
Ooh I've recently changed my mind on this.
I LOVE my clients and community but I don't think it has to play a role in maintaining an active lifestyle. I definitely don't want to take anything away from the community aspect of fitness because it is a very cool benefit and for some people it will help with consistency, but last year we spent 6 months overseas, slowed our lifestyle right down, and it helped me form the best healthy habits that I have been able to keep and am really loving now we're home.
Now I'm in my Mum season, I love that time all to myself, to move in a way that feels right for me that day. Again, everyone is different and I encourage everyone to find a form of exercise that feels right, knowing that it could change as you move through different seasons of life and that's ok, as long as you keep moving. Because if you don't move it, you'll lose it!

Where can we find you, follow you and be inspired by you Tiff!?
